Awareness camp on sensitization of media role conducted

Zeliangrong Baptist Association in collaboration with Tamenglong District Working Journalist Union (TADWJU) conducted a one-day awareness camp on 'sensitization of media role' at Aben village, Tousem Subdivision, Tamenglong district, Saturday.
Hillson Angam, Advocate Manipur High Court; Anthony Gangmei, DIO i/c, DIPR Tamenglong; Agui Kamei, correspondent, All India Radio & DD News; Jimmy Pamei, Editor, Tamenglong Times; Ringbam Kamei, Editor, The Ganphiu Mail and Dinthuingam Pamei, Executive Editor, The Cham attended the awareness camp as a resource persons.
Anthony Gangmei talked about the role of social media in rural development.
He said that social media plays a very important role in developing society.
Ringbam Kamei, Editor, The Ganphiu Mail highlighted the role of the fourth estate in a democratic society.
Dinthuingam Pamei, Executive Editor, The Cham also expressed about the importance of media in a nutshell and requested the parents and the youth of Aben village to take up journalism course since this profession has a very good scope to get a job.
Tamenglong AIR correspondent, Agui Kamei talked about the topic on media and public relation for all-round development.
He urged the gathering to always coordinate with the media in highlighting their grievances.
Hillson Angam spoke on the topic "Enforcing our Rights through Public Interest Litigation" .
While talking about the importance and the ways to use the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in a right way, he added, "In case if the village authorities or any individual is not satisfied with the work done by the Government they can file PIL.
Village Chairman, Church leaders, CSO as well as youth from 11 villages in an around Tousem subdivision attended the awareness program.
After the formal session, an interactive session was held, during which one Heusuaneing Daime (107) expressed his unhappiness on the present Government and the elected leaders for the poor road condition of Tousem Subdivision.
Around 56 people attended the awareness programme.
