Skill development is a must to empower youth, says Chief Minister N Biren

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that skill development is a must to empower the youth of Manipur.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a PMKVY Training Centre at Thangmeiband DM College Road (opposite ABC Godown) today.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a flagship scheme of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) .
The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
The Chief Minister said that as per the records provided by different Employment Exchanges, the State now has more than 7 lakh unemployed youths.
Conveying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a dream to provide employment to every Indian, Biren informed that the State Cabinet had decided to operationalise Manipur Skill Development Mission under Labour and Employment Department to make Modi's dream a reality.

He said that even private firms would provide jobs to many youth if the Government takes up the onus to give them skill training.
In order to promote entrepreneurship, the State Government would issue an order to all the Departments to effect the maximum use of 'Make-in-Manipur' products in their offices, he added.
Regarding the State Government's initiative to check corruption, the Chief Minister said that the Anti-Corruption Cell set up by the Government has started receiving many complaints.
Stating that some of the cases had been forwarded to the DCs and SPs concerned for further action, the Chief Minister said that a Monitoring Committee would be formed to assess the activities of the Anti-Corruption Cell.
Speaking on Churachandpur issue, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is not in a position to fulfil the demand for Lamka district as raised by JAC Against Anti-Tribal Bills for the time being.
He said that the State Government had told the JAC that the demand can be considered after the District Boundary Commission submits its report.
Education and Labour and Employment Minister Th Radheshyam and PMKVY National Co-ordinator Hemanta Larma attended the function as the guests of honour and Manipur Medical Council president Prof Sinam Rajendra as the president at the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Th Radheshyam observed that there is a need emphasize the training of youth as per the industry requirements/demands.
Organising skill development programmes for youth would not serve any purpose if they are not trained according to the requirements of the companies/firms, he said.
During his speech, he also mentioned about the importance of using 'Make-in- Manipur' products in order to promote entrepreneurship in the State.
He further said that there is a need to impart awareness on various welfare schemes being taken up by the Government.
