WAD digs into lack of humanitarian services

Imphal, June 10 2015 :
Women Action Development and its allied organisations COWF, CSD, WEJ, Survivors Forum Manipur, DWC � UNM, M I/E had appealed to the concerned authority to initiate the functioning of State Human Right Commission, to Initiate the Fast Tract Court in all 9 districts of Manipur within 6 months, establish a separate Department and Budget to deal with Gender based discrimination, also to fill up two Judges of Manipur High Court which remain lying since full flagged High Court came into function.
The organisations also appeal the Government of Manipur to investigate the gang rape and murder of a girl.
WAD also informed that during the last five month (January to May 2015) there were 207 cases of crime against humanity cover all the cases existing in the 9 Districts of Manipur.
The form of crime covers the torturing of civilians by the Indian security forces and the UGs.
Besides recorded cases of crime against women and children amount to 128 out of which 23 persons are reported dead.
And the total number of recorded bomb blast cases in the last five months of 2015 is 96.Summing up the cases a report drawing attention of the Prime Minister and Union and State Authority is to be submitted soon says a press release from WAD.
