Imphal, September 03, 2010:
Members of the Association of DPC Successful Candidates for Primary Teachers/HMT/HGT-2006 today threatened they would undergo an unto-death hunger strike if the government refuses to issue appointment papers.
The association is demanding validating the authenticity of the DPC result which was about to be declared on April 22 under order number 1/3/2-8/09-ED (S) of the Education (School) Department.
This was published in Hueiyen Lanpao with the alleged concealment of the result at the very last minute.
Government is making an inquiry into the leaking of the DPC results to the media by constituting a high level inquiry committee led by the Chief Secretary.
The further extension of the period of the inquiry by a government order recently was strongly condemned by the association during a briefing to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today.
While speaking in the briefing the general secretary of the Association, H Somendro warned that if the committee looking into the result comes out with a decision against the interest of the candidates, they will be compelled to launch various forms of agitation.
We are ready to challenge any decision taken against the interest of the candidates who had been included in the selected list, he said pressing the state government to speed up the inquiry and to publicise the finding to the public. The Association is ready to take legal assistance if the inquiry committee came out with a recommendation against the interest of the candidates, he added.
