Imphal, February 01:
Reacting to the news report that Mangminlun Haokip of S Nabil village, who was beaten to death by villagers of Khousabung on January 29, was in an inebriated state, the S Nabil Village Authority has today refuted the report and said that no trace of alcohol was found in the body of the deceased during the post mortem.
In a statement, the village authority said that the deceased was a Class XI student as well as the chief of S Nabil village and added that the report that he was under the influence of alcohol and used abusive languages at the local meira paibis was nothing but a blatant lie.
Mangminlung and his companion were dragged to the village community hall without any rhyme or reason by a group of people led by the chief of Khousabung, Khamzalal and after severe torture killed Mangminlun with a blow on the head, alleged the statement.
