Solar light distributed

Solar mini home lights were distributed to 2300 families at a simple distribution ceremony organised by Chanura Microfin Manipur (CMM) at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound today.
The solar lights were distributed with the funding of FWWB under the CMM's 'From Darkness to Light' initiative.
According to CMM chief executive officer PK Khuman the solar lights were provided to help the beneficiaries control additional expenditure in paying electricity bill.
Expressing confidence that cut in power bill would eventually enable the recipients save their hard earned money, he said a single solar mini home light system could illuminate atleast three rooms thereby facilitating the family members to either study or continue economic activity within the comfort of the home.
Affirming that CMM project launched in 2009 would be sustained with similar distribution events, he also pointed out that till date the number of families benefited has reached the 22,000 mark.
The programme held with NABARD Manipur Regional office General Manager M Soren as the chief guest was also graced by the presence of CMM chairman Kh Yaiskul Singh, SIDBI Imphal Branch Manager SP Gangte and NEDFi Imphal Branch Manager Rajiv Khaidem as the guests of honour.
