Chandel, September 27 2013 :
Civil society organisations in Chandel district have expressed strong resentment over the failure of the concerned State Authority to implement the scheme for extending financial assistance to patients coming from poor families for medical treatment.
They have also decried the failure of the providing the required application forms to the deserving patients of the district.
Talking to media persons today on behalf of other civil society organisations in the district, General Secretary of CNPO BD Betha said that people of Chandel district have been deprived of this particular aid as the department concerned has completely failed to implement the scheme for the last two/three years.
BD Betha recalled that the said scheme used to be implemented in the district in a fair manner with the Chief Medical Officer screening the application forms submitted and interviews were held before selecting the beneficiaries.
But today, the required application forms for availing the benefits of the scheme have not been provided to the people for the last two/three years.
Questioning the authority concerned whether the scheme is still implemented in the district or not, Betha wondered if it is being implemented, then where the applications forms for Chandel district have gone.
Alleging that the Director of Tribal Development and the Minister concerned have been neglecting the people of Chandel, Betha warned of resorting to agitation in collaboration with the Naga Chiefs Association Chandel in case the authority concerned continues to pay a deaf ear and fails to resume implementing of the scheme in the district.
