Imphal, July 27 2014 :
As in past years, ACOAM-Lup, Kanglei-pak today celebrated the day on which the words, 'without territorial limits' were deleted from the cease fire agreement inked between NSCN (IM) and Government of India in 2001, as Integrity Protection Day at JN Manipur Dance Academy.
Following a people's uprising in the valley districts of Manipur, the Government of India announced deletion of the three 'controversial' words from the agreement on July 27, 2001, said ACOAM Lup secretary general Sanjit Soraisam addressing the function.
Since then, the Lup has been celebrating the day as Integrity Protection Day, he added.
Stating that the territorial integrity of Manipur is intact now due to the people's outrage erupted on June 18, 2001, Sanjit said that people however still need to be alert on the issue.

Speaking at the function, UCM president Y Nabachandra said that people of Manipur must not forget the historic day on which the words, 'without territorial limits' were deleted.
Although, the Indo-Naga cease fire agreement is restricted only in Nagaland now, people of Manipur must not remain unwary as if nothing would happen to the territorial integrity of the State.
Regarding the present imbroglio, the UCM president demanded the Government to implement ILPS in the State to protect the indigenous people of Manipur.
The MLAs must understand the intensity of the situation, he said and added that it was unfortunate that they were not willing to discuss the issue in the Assembly although they had time to deliberate the matter of Babloo Loitongbam's remark.
Giving the meaning of 'mithibong meetambal' as timidness, Nabachandra said that the lawmakers had gone too far on the issue by handing over the matter to House Privilege Committee.
ACOAM-Lup president, Ksh Somorendro, Advisor H Kulla, Kangla Pao Chief Editor P Ibochouba, SEACO working president Kolomcha Achoubi, Kanglamei president Y Leirikleima and AMBA former general secretary Maibam Nilachandra attended the function as presidium members.
