SAI coach slapped with molestation charges

Imphal, July 27 2014 : Five female athletes of Sports Authority of India (SAI), Takyelpat have charged their coach Okram Chaoba of molestation and forcing them to take measurement wearing only bras and panties.

Addressing a press meet in this regard at the office of Ideals Club, Sagolband Tera here today, H Manoj, general secretary of Co-ordination Committee on NH � 37 said that a complaint statement signed by the five athletes has been submitted to Director of SAI North East Regional Council through In-Charge of SAI, Michael highlighting the despicable act of the coach committed on the athletes.

He pledged that the committee will launch various intense agitations until the erring coach is terminated from his service.

Hand-written copies by each of the five athletes mentioning the indecent behavior of the coach were also enclosed in the statement.

A copy of the complaint statement was also made available to the attending media persons.

Quoting the statement submitted to the Director, Manoj stated that O Chaoba intentionally forced the athletes to take measurement wearing only bras and panties in his presence.

Not only this, he also inappropriately touched chest of one of the athletes and even tried to kiss her.

The statement alleged that once O Chaoba approached two of the athletes while they were waiting for the gym to open and he tried to hug one of them asking how big her chest is.

Perturbed by the behavior of the coach, the athlete pushed his hand away and fled from the place.

When representatives of Co-ordination Committee on NH 37 went to meet the In-Charge of SAI, Michael, he refused to furnish any detail about the incident, saying interference of any civil society organization into the incident is not welcomed.

However, the representatives managed to meet the warden during which the latter stated that an understanding over the incident has been already brought about.

Taking strong exception to the incident, the committee demanded immediate termination of the coach from his job as it is most likely that he will continue with his behavior at other SAI centers as well if he is transfer from here.

Hueiyen Lanpao attempted to contact the coach in a bid to ascertain the charges leveled against him by the five female athletes but it proved futile.
