UADC Chairman visits far off Council schools at Ukhrul

A team of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council led by its chairman Dickson Kamkara visited the council schools established at the extreme eastern villages of Ukhrul district today.
The visiting UADC Chairman Dickson Kamkara also inaugurated the sport cum literary meet of Khayang Upper Primary School under Autonomous District Council, Ukhrul at Khayang village ground.
Dickson lauded the prevailing management of the school.
Apart from school administration, the village authority in collaboration with school SMDC took the initiative of taking up developmental works and management of the school.
The village provided free accommodation for non local students reading in Khayang Upper Primary School.
Chairman Dickson Kamkara assured to construct barrack type quarter for Khayang Upper Primary School to ensure better education in the area.
School laboratory and others would be looked into at the earliest, he added.
He went on to mention that the hardships faced by villagers regarding non accessibility of proper roads is deprivation of basic rights.
The visiting team walked for more than one hours, on foot to reach Khayang village, and interacted with the students.
Executive member Khayinghor lauded the keenness and enthusiasm of students in learning and other activities.
Meanwhile, Councillor Thangchipem Jagoi said that enthusiastic efforts of the village will bring positive change in the whole neighbouring villages in the near future.
Altogether 93 students are reading in Khayang Upper Primary School, out of which 60 students are from neighbouring villages.
According to sources, only three persons from Khayang village are working in Government Departments so far.
ADC, Ukhrul visited at least seven schools including Khayang ( Mapum, Zingsui, Sahamphung, Roni, Matiyang and Kachouphung) and distributed white board, volley, football and water filter.
Unfortunately, no staff or school authority was available at Matiyang Primary School to receive the gift issued by Chairman ADC, Ukhrul.
A medical camp was also conducted at Khayang village as well.
The UADC team was accompanied by a medical team, school Inspector, Small town committee and social activists to take stock of the situation at different schools for necessary intervention from the department concerned, in time.
