Three-day Bamboo Fair concludes

The three-day long Ccpur Bamboo Fair organised by Ropiang Foundation Trust concluded today while Singngat MLA and Chairman MAN1REDA Ginsuanhau Zou graced the event and distributed prizes for the competitions held throughout the exposition.
The concluding day's schedule kicked-off with a painting competition at 9 am while the CEO of MS Wood Science and Technology, Green Solutions India Sanjay Singh led a Seminar on the topic, 'Bamboo as a Sustainable Development' followed by the closing ceremony eventually.
Besides the MLA, Additional DC Churachandpur Lalramsang Infimate, the District Forest Officer Kh Sanajaoba Singh and the Additional Director Family Welfare Dr Chiin Guite also attended the closing event and inspected the bamboo exhibition and bamboo stalls set up at the fair venue.
Earlier, MP Outer Manipur Thangso Baite had inaugurated the bamboo exposition at YMA Hall Hmuia Veng in the presence of DD Haokip, Additional PCCF & State Mission Director National Bamboo Mission on October 24.Bamboo artisans drawn from all across the State has displayed and showcased their bamboo products during the fair and were reportedly going out of stock on the concluding day.
The organiser has also invited experts from within and outside the state to raise awareness for the public about the bamboo products and its benefits.
'With features of eco-friendliness, heat conduction, sterilization, anion production and electromagnetic interception, bamboos are popular not only as materials for traditional crafts, but also as materials for eco-friendly buildings, bamboo textile and functional foods.
As the vast area of the district are covered with bamboo which are annually felled and burnt up to grow rice, tapping the true potential of bamboo can effortlessly revolutionise the local economy and their farming methods.
Thus, the Fair is designed to develop local interest and encourage investment in developing well-being foods and new materials by exchanging information on bamboo-related education, culture and industry.
It is also designed to eventually seek ways of building a bamboo-based ecological region and marketing local brands,' L Guite, the Solicitor of Ropiang Foundation said.
Prof MS Bisht from the Department of Environmental Studies, NEHU; Prof Madhura Yadav, Director School of Architect & Design, Manipal University, Jaipur; Dr HH Badekar, Executive Director Maharashtra Chapter, Bamboo Society of India; Sanjoy Singh, CEO Green Solutions India, and N Somorendro, Asst Director State Bamboo Mission, GOM have led the seminar and delivered motivational speeches on varied issues but with a common theme on Bamboo.
