Imphal, August 14 2014 :
Even as people continued to stage pro-ILPS agitations at different parts of the State, Joint Inner Line Permit System Student's Wing (JCILPSSW) has pulled up 24 non-locals including four minors from Thangmeiband DM College gate in the wee hours today.
The non-locals arrived at the State capital at around 3.30 am in an inter-State bus (AS-01-9777) .
They were rounded by JCILPSSW volunteers after some locals alerted them when they saw non-locals getting off from the bus.
Speaking to reporters at AMSU headquarters, JCILPSSW convenor M Angamba said that all the non-locals, including four 13-- year-old minors, are labourers and they came here to work in mobile tower construction.
The non-locals said that they were sent from Guwahati by one Suman Sen for the said works.
Suman Sen is now staying in a rented house at Sagolband, Angamba said.
Saying that all the non-locals hail from West Bengal, Angamba added that they carried fake identity cards.
Expressing concern over State Government's failure to check influx of non-locals, Angamba also expressed suspicion whether Manipur has become a safe haven for non-local criminals as many of them are indulging in criminal activities.
Saying that non-locals have even started developing their colonies at some pockets, Angamba said that the State Government must enforce a strict regulation to entry of non-local labours under State Labour Department.
Angam said that the four minors would be handed over to ChildLine while other non-locals would be sent back to Guwahati.
