AMSU expresses concern

AMSU has stated that it is deeply concerned with the activities of AITUC aimed projecting AMSU in wrong light in connivance with some barbers who are charging saloon rates higher than the one prescribed by the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Government of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons this evening, AMSU president Thiyam Naresh said that there appeared to a gap between the All Manipur Barber Association (AMBA) and AITUC regarding the saloon rates fixed by the Government of Manipur.
In view of this misunderstanding, AMBA is appealed to suspend their activities for sometime.
It also appealed to the leaders of AITUC to communicate with AMSU on the matter.
Even as AMSU and AMBA have agreed not charge saloon rates higher than the rates fixed by the Government of Manipur, some barbers were reported to be charging higher saloon rates.
Acting on the report, AMSU launched a drive and five barbers were charging saloon rates higher than the rate fixed by the Government.
They were not assault much but let them off after coming to an understanding.
One mobile phone was kept back in order to bring a fellow barber who ran away during the drive, said AMSU general secretary Romen Leishangthem.
He also decried the press meet held at Manipur Press Club with office bearers of AITUC today.
Pappu Thakur, general secretary of AMBA who was present at the press meet was one of the barbers pulled up charging higher saloon rates, he added.
