Imphal, July 10 2011:
In amidst of the issue of a trucker selling off rice for FCI Sangaiprou and found with huge numbers of cement bags by police, another incident of a rice truck whisking away with the rice bags after completing all paper works in association with some officials of the FCI storehouse Sangaiprou came to light today.
H Ranjit president Manipur Truck Owners' Welfare Association told Hueiyen Lanpao that a truck bearing registration number MN03T-0389 who came with other trucks on July 7 after loading rice bags from Jiribam whisked away on reaching Imphal.
Surprisingly, FCI officials recorded entry in their office file that the truck had unloaded its rice bags without actually unloading them.
He said that the FCI storehouse Sangaiprou has become a haven of thieves and corrupt officials.
The association has confirmed who came to the storehouse and how they filed in the entry in the office file.
Challenging the office entry of FCI, Ranjit said that the association will give reward of Rs 1 lakh to any person who can prove that the truck did actually unloaded its rice loads in the FCI storehouse.
The truck never came at the FCI storehouse nor was it in the entry list.
He further said that the two trucks bearing registration numbers MN01-7743 and MN01-8112 on which the association had imposed some restrictions has been lifted up and there will be no restriction upon the two trucks.
He said that the association did not know how long the officials in the storehouse have been indulging in such corrupt natures.
If the state government, concerned officials and minister do not take up immediate preventive measures to check such corrupt natures of the FCI officials, there will be more and more crisis coming up in the future which will become a difficult task for the government to cope with.
The association which was established in 1992 has been rendering its services to the people of the state without any vested interest.
If any truck owner or driver is found to be indulging in such corrupt nature the association will take up stern action against such trucks and made it public.
According to Supreme Court directives, the maximum load a six wheeled vehicle should carry along the NH 53 is 9 metric ton and the load will be 15 metric ton for 10 wheeled vehicles.
However, concerned department is not taking up any steps to check if the loads being ferried by the trucks are overloaded or not.
There were many incidents along the highway of accidents occurred out of overloading which not only cause inconveniences to the security escort but also to the trucks behind them by blocking their way.
Taking serious concern of the matter, Ranjit appealed to concerned departments to check the matter at the earliest.
