Despite prohibition order, locals of Nambol convened a meeting at Nambol Keithel today and had a threadbare discussion on several subjects, including developmental projects at Wards under Nambol Municipal Council.
The meeting was organised by Development and Protection United Voluntary Organization (DPUVO), Nambol and Nambol Apunba Nupi Lup, Nambol.
Amidst the meeting, police came and confiscated loudspeaker and banners used in the meeting at around 1.40 pm.
Despite the security forces intervention, president of DPUVO, Nambol, Taorem Khaba Khuman announced the resolutions taken in the meeting.
The meeting demanded the Nambol Municipal Council to produce white paper and audited statement of the allocated budget and expenditure for the current term.
The gathering also demanded that projects other than construction of Nambol Municipal Council or market shed should not be implemented at the area where the old office of the council is situated.
They also discussed the alleged 'unchecked collection of taxes from street vendors by the council' and "usage of Council vehicle by the Chairperson for personal purpose" .
