Sports medicine workshop begins

A two-day interactive workshop on 'Ayush Medicine in Sports' organised by State Health Society commenced from today at the conference hall of National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak sports Complex.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest Education (University) Commissioner K Moses Chalai said every related departments have to shoulder the responsibility for ensuring well being of the Manipuri sportspersons, health-wise to enable them concentrate on their respective sports and bring laurel to the state.
Informing the gathering that treatment of injuries could be healed with the help of various Ayush medicines, he highlighted that use of homeopathic medicine do not have any sideeffect.
The Commissioner also urged officials of the sports Academy to note important advises of the Ayush doctors at the workshop for future reference and to ensure students of the Academy are free from health problems.
National Rural Health Mission Director Devesh Deval, who also spoke at the occasion assured all possible assistance of the Mission for ensuring fitness of the sportspersons.
Reminding all concerned that it is the sportspersons who regularly bring laurel for Manipur, Devesh deval stressed that health-related Government departments need to contribute their mite in the fitness of the sports-persons.
The Principal of the Sports Academy, T Purnachandra Singh, Manipur Olympic Association secretary L Manglem and Mumbai-based Homeopathic Sports medicine expert Dr Jatin N Valia also deliberated on the workshop theme.
