Imphal, October 20 2014:
A six-day skill development programme on 'Fruit & Vegetable Processing and Preservation' under the aegis of MSME Development Institute, Government of India, Takyelpat was set into motion at Nagamapal Kangjabi Meinam Leikai today.
Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, Ex-MLA M Bhorot Singh said that skilled workers must fathom the significance of time, place and sincerity at work.
Trying to excel in their respective field of work to gain self respect must be their priority.
On the other hand, the State Government must start conducting awareness programmes on 'Look East Policy' rather than just talking about the policy.
The awareness programmes must include strategies and plans for the common people in order to score benefits and check the problem of unemployment in the State, he asserted.
Retired Functional Manager (KVI) Commerce and Industry, Manipur, S Birendra Singh said that there are many people who are academically sound though unemployed.
This group of people specially the youth must learn the fruit processing skill with dedication as Manipur is rich in natural resources specially fruits and vegetables.
They must therefore try to draw maximum benefits from it through self employment though many industries have failed earlier, he added.
Vice president, Indian Council of Small Industries P Loken Singh and Assistant Director (Mech) MSME-DI Imphal Ng Maniroton Singh also attended the programme as the president and guest of honour.
