First ever Poula textbooks for class IX & X released in Senapati

Creating a history in the field of literature for the Poumai Naga tribe of Senapati district, the Poumai Literature Society (PLS) under the aegis of the Poumai Naga Union (PNU) released Poula textbooks for class IX & X at Poumai Naga Union (PNU) conference hall.
The program was graced by SL Rangsong, ZEO, Senapati as the chief guest in the presence of president and colleagues of the Naga People's Organization, president and colleagues of the Senapati District Students Association, PNU Executives, Poumai Naga Women's Union executives, Poumai Naga Students Union executives, advisory board to PNU, officials of the Assembly Affairs, PNU, Judiciary board of the PNU, School Principal and Headmaster of different schools, village chairmen and secretaries of different Poumai villages and well wishers.
Delivering his welcome address, SP Lawrence, vice president of the Poumai Naga Union said that the long cherished dream of the Poumai Naga tribe has finally come true adding that earlier, students could not excel in competitive exams conducted at the Board of Secondary and Council of Higher Secondary schools as the tribe did not have their own literature.
He lauded the Poumai Literature Society for their tireless effort in fulfilling the long cherished dream.
Underlining the vision for quality and value based education which is the need of the hour, the vice president claimed that an order issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, on December 26 last year, said that the board has recognised Poula as one of the first languages for class IX from the academic session 2019 and class X from the academic session 2020, as a course of study.
Briefing about the textbooks, Dr R Ngupani Tao, Member, PLS said that there are three text books namely "Sourevah Zhatao" - (Poula Course Book I for Class IX and Book II for class X), "Rii-a Phoure Zhatao" (Poula Literature Book -1 for Class IX and Book - II for Class X) and Poumai Lalu (Combined Poula Grammar for Class IX and X).
He apologized for any shortcoming in the publication while assuring to make necessary correction wherever needed.
Solomon Arow, president, NPO called the day to be a historic day for the tribe that will benefit the young learners in getting high marks.
The NPO president also drew the attention of all to come together so that the next publication for Hr Secondary level can be successful in the near future.
PS Rolland, Assembly Speaker of the union expressed gratitude to the Literature Society for their sacrifice rendered towards the success of releasing the book and asked the young minds to opt for the subject instead of other languages.
While congratulating the tribe, K Hopeson Mao, president, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) wished the students to be more successful in their studies post releasing of ,the textbooks.
Meanwhile, SL Rangsong, ZEO, Senapati said that it is rather a great achievement for the tribe to release their textbooks in their own dialect.
Having released their textbooks, the ZEO of the district asked the young learners of the tribe to start writing poems, novels or fictions where one's article could be used in the textbooks.
