Sekmai Block Congress Committee (I) has drawn the attention of the authorities concerned to the alleged discrepancies in utilisation of the MLA Local Area Development Fund specially in Sekmai (SC) Kendra in the last 4 years from 2002-06.In a statement made available to press, Committee president H Gourahari Singh said during a recent inspection tour of the villages located with the kendra, the Committee members has learnt that although the people are appreciative of the developmental works and other which would be newly taken up by the Secular Progressive Front Government, they have expressed dissatisfaction over the manner of utilising the MLA Local Development Fund.
With the implementation of the Right to Information Act, 2005 by the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre, people are well informed and have easy access to information they want, the statement said It maintained that the authorities concerned should look into the matter and redress the grievances in the interest of maintaining transparency in the governance.
According to a list enclosed by the Committee, a total of Rs 38,25,000 had been sanctioned for taking up various works under MLA Local Area Development Scheme in respect of Sekmai Kendra from 2002-07.This include sum of Rs 4,35,000 for taking up 12 different works during the financial year 2002-03, Rs 4,55,000 for 11 works during 2003-04, Rs 12,45,000 for 13 works during 2004-05, Rs 12,90,000 for another 31 works during 2005-06 and Rs 4,00,000 for 8 works during the current financial year of 2006-07.
