Imphal, December 09:
Normal chores in Senapati district today came to a standstill as the Naga People's Organisation observed 'Black Day' and imposed a State-wide bandh to protest annulment of the 2001 Census report concerning Mao-Maram, paomata and Purul sub-divisions.
Apart from commercial establishments in the district headquarters shutting down shutters for the day in compliance with the NPO agitation call, vehicular movement were severely affected.
Around 19 tourist buses and over 60 loaded trucks coming from Dimapur to Imphal have been reportedly stranded at Mao Gate following the bandh called by NPO along National Highway 39.Supported by many Naga organisations, NPO had also served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to revoke State Cabinet's cancellation of the said census report within December 17 failing which the apex Naga body would intensify its agitation.
