Imphal, May 29 2014:
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Mi-nister Gaikhangam has catego- rically stated that there is no likelihood of dissident groups emerging within Congress party in Manipur.
He made this statement on being enquired whether the speculations of some opposition leaders about possible split in Congress leadership was true.
Gaikhangam that there is no disagreement within the party and Chief Minister O Ibobi is still heading a very stable Government.
There is no need to panic just because BJP-led NDA has come to power at the Centre.
The Centre-State relationship in India is determined by a federal structure.
As such, there is no room for the NDA Government to make undue distur- bance in Manipur.
Gaikhangam said that he was confident Centre would act according to the Constitution.
BJP State unit would be rejoicing for the party has come to power at the Centre.
But this is no indication that BJP would wrest power in Manipur too, he stated.
On being enquired if there would be any change in the Council of Ministers, Gaikha-ngam maintained that he was not in a position to comment on the matter for the question of reshuffling the Council of Ministers is the prerogative of the Chief Minister.
There has been no discussion so far on reshuffling the Council of Ministers.
If there was any consideration on the matter, it should be done with due approval of the high command, Gaikhangam said.
