Police Department come out with additional security measures

In view of the Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival-2013 to be held at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace compound from November 21 tro November 30, the police department has come up with certain regulations in order to avoid traffic congestion and unwanted incidents, A press release issued by IGP (L/O-1) L Kailun said that, apart from the local visitors, the festival would be attended by senior Union Ministers, central Government officials, senior Ministers, State government officials, delegates and dignitaries from abroad.
The Police Department has made elaborate security arrangement for the safety and security of general public, and visitors.
However, the Police Department require cooperation from the public/visitors so that attempts of anti-social elements to disrupt the festival are foiled.
It appealed to public to be vigilant and report any unusual objects lying unattended at public places and inform the control at the festival venue.
Saying that there will be heavy traffic congestion in and around Hapta Kangjeibung during the festival, parking spaces for the public and visitors near the venue have been limited.
ln order to ease traffic congestion in the area, the Govertment has introduced shuttle services to ferry visitors to and fro from many important points and junctions.
Shuttle buses will stop at certain stops to pick up and drop passengers/visitors to Sangai Festival.
There will be traffic cut-off and diversion at many junctions/crossings and one-way traffic at Sanjenthong bridge.
Entrance for public/visitors is at the eastern gate only and exit point will be the southern gate.
Transportation of goods for the stalls etc shall be allowed up to 8 am everyday with effect from November 22 at the northern gate.
No unmarked vehicleslwithout pass shall be allowed to proceed towards festival venue beyond these points.
Drop-gates are already erected at these locations.
The visitiors shall proceed on foot till the venue from Palace Gate, Bheigo Saw Mill Crossing, Haokip-Veng Crossing, Mahaabali Picket Crossing, Harikhagok Makhong
Crossing.
The staff of Ereibak/Arts and Culture and other inhabitants requiring this route need to carry photo identity card/vehicle pass to gain access.
Media personnel with vehicle pass and photo identity card can park within Lamyanba Pakhang complex.
ldle parking of vehicles will not be allowed at the following places.
Sanjenthong bridge to Thangal General statue on both side of the road.
Thangal General statue to Minuthong bridge on both side of the road.
The lane from Advanced Hospital to Harikhagok crossing.
Further, there will be physical and electronics chec-king at the entry gate.
It fur- ther asked public/visitors not to bring any weapons like knife, stick sharp objects etc.
Objectionable items shall be confiscated at the entrance gate.
Personnel belongings may be to the minimum, it said while adding that Entry tickets will not be available at the entrance gate.
