Imphal, November 19 2013:
Alleging that there is disparity in the amount collected from food stall runners for the upcoming Manipur Sangai Tourism Festival, one Kh Devenkishor of DK Foods urged the State authorities to ensure there is no controversy in the run-up to grand event.
According to Devenkishor, Paona bazar-based Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicraft Artisans' cooperative Society Limited levied Rs 15,000 each from about 80 food stall runners as participation fee while for some others the same fee is Rs 8000 each.
Contrary to an order that there would be 100 food stalls and fixing the fee for these stalls at Rs 15,000 each the fact that the number of food stall participants will now exceed the 100 mark and that some participants are asked to pay only Rs 8000 deserves justifiable explanation, the DK Food stall owner who also cautioned that many of food stall runners might boycott the festival in protest.
