Son of widow tops AIPMT for Manipur State

Setting an example to students who got failed in clearing medical exams despite repeated attempts and huge financial support from their well-to-do parents, Kangabam Alex, son of a widow, living in Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai has clinched the top position in All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test for the State of Manipur.
Alex secured 508 marks out of the total 720 with 91 marks in physics, 138 in chemistry and 289 in Biology in the examination conducted by CBSE, the result of which was declared today.
Talking exclusively to Hueiyen Lanpao, Kh Leima, who has been looking after her lone son after husband died in 2000 from cancer, said that Alex received medical coaching in Combined Ocean of Medical & Engineering Tutorial (COMET) without spending a single rupee as the coaching centre was confident of her son's hard work and determination.
However, in spite of the commendable achievement of her son, Leima is quite apprehensive about fee that will be required in admitting her son to any of the medical colleges.
Though Alex has qualified to study in any of the medical colleges under State quota, the poor mother is worried from where she has to cough up the money required for the admission.
Alex was a student of St Joseph School and she bagged 15th position in the HSLC examination conducted by BSEM in 2010.He then enrolled in Harvard School for higher secondary education.
Though he failed to secure position in the Class XII examination, he did manage to get high percentage of marks.
Knowing that her son is blessed with enough talent and worth for a medical seat, Leima, who works as a helper, decided to materialize her son's dream at any cost.
For that she went from door-to-door asking for work.
An emotional Leima is now caught in a dilemma thinking over where to go for seeking more works to see her become a doctor.
