The Government of Manipur has been trying its best to revive the dying performing art forms of the people in the State, Commissioner of Arts and Culture P Bhorot has stated.
Speaking as chief guest of a Manoharshai Natasankirtana performance programme organised by Harimati Dance and Music Centre at its Porompat auditorium here today, Bhorot pointed out that it is the arts and culture of Manipur that played a major role in introducing the State and its people to the outside world.
So the Government of Manipur has been trying its best to revive the dying performing art forms of the people.
At such a critical juncture, the efforts being made by Harimati Dance and Music Centre is appreciable, he added.
In his presidential address, president of Harimati Dance and Music Centre Dr Ksh Kala pointed out that instead of Natasankirtana, Sankirtan performance of one or two person is now becoming a almost like a norm in religious function.
This is also one of the main causes for dying of the performing art form.
