Imphal, December 21 2009:
The State Level Youth Festival organised under the aegis of Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur since December 18 concluded today.
In all 412 youths coming from nine different districts of the Stateparticipated in the festival.
The valedictory function held at the Kangshang of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex was attended by Commissioner of Youths Affairs and Sports L Lakher as chief guest and Director of Youth Affairs and Sports Boby Waikhom as functional president.
At the occasion, the youth awards for the year 2007 and 2008 given by the Government of Manipur were also presented.
For the year 2007, the State Youth Award for category of organisation was awarded to Network of Economic and Welfare Services, Kumbi, Bishnupur district while the District Youth Award to Network of Singjamei, Imphal West.
In the individual category, the State Youth Award, 2007 has been awarded to Tonjam Gandhi Singh of Lilong Chajing Awang Leikai and the District Youth.
Gandhi also received the District Youth Award from Imphal West in the individual awarded.
Other recipients of District Youth Awards for the year 2007 are Pangabam Mobi Singh, Kongba Ucheckon Konsam Leikai for Imphal East district, Huidrom Romen Singh of Ishok Awang Leikai for Bishnupur district, Kimkhoneng Chongloi of Haijang village, Kangpokpi, Sadar Hills for Senapati district and Philajohn Shang Shimray of Phungreitang for UKhrul district.

Recipients of Youth Award, 2008 are respectively Premium Rural Paradise Association, Khurai Soibam Leikai, Imphal East District ( State Youth Award for organisation) and Pukhrambam Somorjit Singh of Lilong Chajing Pukhri Achouba Mapal, Imphal West ( State Youth Award for Individual).
Prizes to the winners of competitions in 11 different items organised during the State Level Youth Festival were also distributed during the valedictory function.
The said winners would be representing Manipur in the National Youth Festival to be held in January, 2010 at Bhubaneswar.
In continuation of the function, various cultural programmes were also performed.
