Imphal, June 09 2015 :
All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has said that the decision to end Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern in Class XII examination was taken in haste by the Government.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, association secretary Laishram Joy Khuman said that CCE was introduced only in 2012 .
As such, the pattern could have been tested for at least five years, he said.
With the sudden abolition of CCE pattern, students who are going to appear in Class XII examination in 2016 have little knowledge about the new pattern, he said.
Regarding Class X examination, he said that the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) has decided to increase the number of subjects from five to six.
Joy Khuman said that this new pattern, in which the full mark is 600, is not followed by any Board in the country.
He said that BOSEM has decided to introduce Fine Arts, Music, Thang-Ta, Home Science, Higher Maths and Computer Science in addition to the existing subjects.
Joy opined that there would be no issue if the total mark/percentage of a student is calculated from his/her best five subjects.
Introduction of new subjects is a big headache for the Government school students, he said and added that although private schools would not take long in appointing teachers of these subjects, Government schools would need to wait for years.
As such, BOSEM should have studied the feasibility of the new pattern before its introduction, he said.
He further said that the association would organise a discussion session on CCE pattern at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur on June 13 .
Joy urged the intellectuals and representatives of student bodies and CSOs to take part in the discussion session.
