Sylvan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (SKVK), Hengbung, Senapati District along with its host institute FEEDS, Manipur observed the World Environment Day at its Hengbung Complex in Senapati district on June 5.The function graced by Deputy Commissioner, senapati Dr Prem Singh and Deputy Conservator of Forest Dr Puni Mao as chief guest and president respectively was attended by many district level officers, village chiefs and public of the district.
Giving his address at the occasion, Dr Prem stressed on the need for protection of the environment for development and sustainability of the future.
In his presidential address, Dr Puni detailed on impact of wanton destruction of forest resources on human existence and appealed to the people for taking up corrective measures immediately.
The occasion was marked by plantation of trees by chief guest, president, district officials, chiefs of different villages, women leaders and public.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Human Resource and Environmental Promotion, Yaiskul Police Lane, Imphal also observed the World Environment Day, 2005 under UNEP theme �Green City: Plant for the Planet�.
