The twin bandh enforced at Imphal bazar area and along the Tiddim line to protest shooting of five non-locals passed of peacefully by and large.
While the 12 hour Imphal Bazar bandh ended at 6 this evening the 24 hour Tiddim Line agitation would last till tomorrow morning.
During the bandh period at Imphal bazar area sponsored by porters� body - All Manipur Mutiya Workers� union (AMMWU) - business activities at Alu Galli, Dharmashala, MG Avenue and other section of the Thangal Bazar were severely effected.
However, shops in the main market periphery as well as at Paona Bazar were opened as usual.
The porters� body while strongly condemning the shooting of five innocent persons demanded clarification from organisation concerned and appealed against �such mindless blood-shed� in the future.
On the other hand, the Tiddim Line agitation had a telling effect on commuters with transport operators cancelled passenger service with the private motor vehicles plying on this today being either on ceremonial purposes or emergency medical needs.
Market places and commercial establishments at Ningthoukhong, Keinou, Oinam and Kwakta also shut down shutters for the day in response to the bandh call given by the United Women�s Development Organisation, Nambol.
