Even as the Chief Minister and his top-notch Cabinet Ministers were, scheduled to land here tomorrow for the inaugural function of 'Concert for the hungry' its organizers said that they don't expect for mere donation but an open approach and his acceptance of the reality that people of Churachandpur were indeed in the threshold of famine death.
"We don't expect of a one time donation from the Chief Minister, but the recognition that the threat of famine death is a reality and that the people, civil societies and media have done their best in this regard," an organizer said today.
"A recognition that we are on the threshold of famine death from the Government is all that we have expected," he added.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, two Cabinet Ministers from the district and all the representatives of the people here were scheduled to attend the inaugural function of the Committee on Matam Famine Aid's (COMFA) 'Concert for the Hungry' at YPA Headquarters Hall tomorrow.
A documentary on Mautam, testimony of the affected masses and prayer for the hungry will be some of the special attraction that has been planned to greet the Chief Minister and his colleagues.
COMFA has so far gathered 700 bags of rice and about Rs 1 lakh in cash in their attempt to raise relief from the better lots of the district.
Their gross is expected to hit the peak tomorrow as the Chief Ministerial team lands here and the people swing to the tunes of a cause that has threatened the interior community.
Two lead singers from Myanmar, and three from Mizoram have camped here for the concert that will take COMFA's home campaign to a centre stage.
Ibobi will also inaugurate two water supply intake points of the PHED tomorrow.
