Education road map for Sadar Hills discussed

In what could be termed as a crucial meeting for enhancement of education in Sadar Hills, a joint meeting of education department of the armed outfit, Kuki National Front (KNF), a SoO signatory group, Sadar Hills Private Schools (SHIPS), KSO and TSA Sadar Hills was held yesterday at Kangpokpi in which education road map for Sadar Hills was extensively deliberated.
The meeting attended by a four-member delegation of KNF education department and members of SHIPS including its president Robert, Lamcha Chongloi, general secretary of KSO Sadar Hills, Lunmang Haokip, president TSA Sadar Hills and deliberated on various key issues pertaining to education sector in Sadar Hills.
SHIPS members highlighted various adversities encountered by the private schools in Sadar Hills and the requirements to enhance the education sector.
The joint meeting also stressed on the significant duties and responsibilities of parents in bringing sustainable quality education regarding regular payment of necessary fees.
The meeting also discussed the need to sensitise the parents/guardians on the matter by organising seminars.
Delegates of KNF education department pointed out that students today give more emphasis towards their domestic chores rather than their text books.
They also cautioned that if any student is found indulging in unfair means during HSLC and HSSLC examinations, the school or college concerned would be imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 apart from stringent punishment to the wrongdoer and the school or college concerned.
The joint meeting resolved that private school teachers should have uniform and should not quit their jobs except on getting Government job and on certain medical ground during the academic session.
It was also resolved that every private educational institutions within Sadar Hills should submit bio-data of their respective school teachers to the education department, KNF within February and every teacher should undergo spoken course and any person using narcotic drugs or intoxicant substances should not be employed as teachers by the schools.
It has also been resolved that computer class with complete infrastructure from class-III to VIII should be made compulsory in every school and every educational institution should maintain 90 per cent pass percentage in every examination.
It was also resolved that a combined meeting of the education department, KNF and student bodies including KSO, Sadar Hills and TSA, Sadar Hills will be held after every three month and all educational institutions within Sadar Hills would be visited.
Pay structure of private school teacher has also been revised and approved in the joint meeting.
Meanwhile, KSO Sadar Hills has continued to inspect HSLC and HSSLC exam centres within Sadar Hills and lauded the efforts of the Govt officials and Minister concerned in making the exams within Sadar Hills clean.
Thangminlen Kipgen, president of KSO-SH at the same time lamented that exams in Sadar Hills could have been conducted in a free and fair manner in the past too had the officials concerned had the will to do so.
The KSO meanwhile acknowledged the efforts of Education Minister M Okendro, DC (Senapati), ADC Kangpokpi, BOSEM flying squad and micro observers for ensuring free and fair exams in Sadar Hills this year.
