Imphal, October 19 2015:
Kakching Municipal Council (KMC), Ward No 7 Councillor S Premita has raised strong against KMC's proposal to construct a row of shops at Kakching Bazar through draw of lots.
Apart from ambiguities in the number of shops reserved for construction, the term of the incumbent council will expire in the next two months and a half, said a press release issued by the BJP Councillor.
In order to ensure that the proposal does not affect future development of Kakching bazar, it would be sagacious to consult people of Kakching, she said.
She also quoted the Wabagai A/C MLA who reported stated, "People of the area have strongly opposed the steps taken by the KMC without consulting the public about details of the plan as it may affect the future development of the area" .
The Councillor also reminded about the suggestion of the Senior Citizens, Forum, Kakching which reportedly demanded a white paper and public discussion on the proposal to construct shops.
She further reminded about the written intimation of the Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association which demanded an immediate halt to the process of drawing lots and also the association's warning that the KMC should bear responsibility for any untoward incident resulting out of browbeating their way.
