Four injured in 'revenge' strike

Four members of Oinam Wangoi Muslim Welfare Association were injured yesterday when they were attacked by the associates of a drug peddler who was arrested by a joint team of Wangoi police and the association' members on August 14 at around 8 pm .
According to reliable information, yesterday, at around 3.30 pm, some individuals led by Md Ibosana s/o Yaima of Oinam Muslim and his family members, allegedly attacked some members of the association using deadly weapons .
During the attack, four members of the association identified as Abdul Latif, Abdullah, Abdul Haq and Yasmine sustained injuries and had to undergo treatment at hospital .
Among the drug peddlers arrested by the association on August 14, one of the them is identified as Alipjan w/o Md Ibosana and another as Tombini d/o Yaima.
Both of them were arrested on the day along with heroin powders .
After the incident, the association held a public meeting near Oinam dam area and condemned the act.
The meeting also resolved to ban the sale and consumption of any kind of drugs and to exert pressure upon police to arrest all the assailants at the earliest.
After the meeting, the locals and the association members went to the residence of Ibosana but found only the aged father of Ibosansa.
The irate locals also tried to set afire a shop run by Ibosana's wife Alipan where she allegedly sold drugs but timely intervention by the association members and police personnel prevented any untoward incident.
