The JAC formed against the brutal killing of Pampha Rai and family members have demanded befitting punish-ment against the accused and other persons involved in the alleged murder of Pampha Rai (31) d/o Dutt Bahadur Rai of 2nd MR, Imphal.
The JAC pledged not to claim the body until the demand is met.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, president of the JAC L Shyam stated that Pampha and the accused P Jameson Singh (35) s/o P Rikendrajit of Langjing Achouba Mamang Leikai never disclosed to family members of the deceased that he was married and has a child.
Trusting Jameson, family members of Pampha supported their relationship.
Taking the relationship to the next level, they were engaged on Jan 10, 2015, he added.
It may be mentioned that Jameson and Pampha were colleagues at Tiddim Motors but later worked in different firms.
She was found dead at Hotel Venus, located at Churachandpur on April 2 .
Further, he alleged that Jameson killed Pampha intentionally and his family mem- bers are involved in the killing.
He demanded that Jame- son must be awarded severe punishment so that such crimes against women are stopped.
After the incident, Jameson surrendered to Bishnupur police and is now currently in the custody of Churachandpur police.
In his statement to police they eloped and a fight broke out over dating some other person and she died on her own in the toilet, Shyam added.
Ritu Rai, mother of the deceased said that as usual on that fateful day, Jameson came and took her daughter and family members had no idea that they went to Churachandpur.
Jameson's family member never disclosed that their son is married and is not yet legally divorced.
His family misled the innocent girl and killed her, Ritu alleged.
She demanded that such criminals should not be allowed to go free.
Unless the demand of the JAC which includes- stringent punishment against the accused including family members of the accused, the dead body will not be claimed, Shyam said.
He urged all the CSOs of the State to support the cause in awarding the accused severe form of punishment.
