On the other hand, Minister Okendro put up a proposal for opening an FCI regional office in Manipur during a meeting of Food Ministers of different States held on October 29 and 30 where Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar was also present.
While putting up the proposal, Okendro explained the difficulties faced by the State in lifting FCI rice from Dimapur during days of highway bandh and blockade.
He also urged the gathering to augment the capacity of FCI's Silchar godown.
He further demanded opening of FCI godowns at New Kaiphundai in Tamenglong district and Parbung in Churachandpur district.
