Imphal, November 01 2012:
Remembering the day when Puyas were burnt to ashes at the behest of one Santidas Gosai, who came to Manipur to spread Hinduism, ACOAM Lup Kangleipak observed 280th 'Puwarigi Amamba Numit' at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba, the titular king of Manipur stated that we should not mock at or interfere with the faiths and beliefs of others over the past incident of burning the sacred 'Puyas' by the then Maharaja of Manipur under the influence Hindu preacher Shantidas Gosai.
Noting that the present generation still blames King Pamheiba for burning the Puyas, the titular king observed that we also need to discuss whether King Pamheiba actually ordered burning of the sacred Puyas willingly or not.
We should ponder over whether it was the wish of the Almighty to bring about a change in the society.
With the passage of time, the whole situation will be reversed and the reversal process has already started now.
