Manipur likely to lose M Sc Nursing quota

Following inability to nominate a student from the state for undertaking MSc Nursing course at Regional College of Nursing, Guwahati for the academic session 2012, Manipur is likely to lose its quota received under North Eastern Council (NEC) .
According to official sources, NEC had informed about the vacancy of seats at Regional College of Nursing, Guwahati for the academic session 2012 to all the concerned States on September 4 last.
However, Manipur Government has not been able to nominate a student from the state.
Since the Manipur State Government has not been able to nominate a student for undertaking the course, NEC along with Government of Assam decided to extend the date for admission to the institute.
Consequently, the date of reporting of nominated students to the institute too has been extended till November 16 .
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Assam has communicated to NEC that the vacant seats under NEC quota should be filled in by nominated students from respective States.
The sources further revealed that if the government of Manipur fails to send its nominated student to the Regional College of Nursing, Guwahati by November 16, the quota received under NEC will be lost forever.
