KEN Manipur holds 2nd convention

The 2nd international convention of Knowledge Exchange Network Manipur, (KEN) Boston, USA was held on July 27 at Holiday Inn, Bath Road, London Heathrow, under the theme "Developing a long-lasting relationship between Manipur and its diasporas � a fundamental need for the development of the State" .
Over 50 delegates participated in the convention, 20 from Manipur and 30 from UK, USA and Singapore, including KEN members, Dr Y Jayanta, Director, NIELIT, RK Herojit, Director of QUEST Singapore and L Lakshmikant, CEO of Numit Ltd, Boston, USA, said a statement of KEN.

KEN members Prof L Jibon from Manipur University, S Rojit from Canada and N Meghnath from Delhi also joined the event via skype, it said and added that a luncheon reception was organised on July 26 and closing dinner on July 27 by general secretary of KEN, Bishwajit Okram and member of KEN, Alian Vaiphei at their residences in London to honour the delegates.
The chief guest of the convention, Koijam Bijoy underlining the significance of using Manipuri language at such gathering, delivered his speech in Manipuri.
Expounding the need for supporting sports community right from the grass root level to help them become a succesful sportspersons, he urged the diaspora community to help build a sports institution in Manipur.
Guest of honour Dr Thokchom Ibomcha (Managing Director, Advanced Hospital, VP-Business Excellency Group-BEG) explained in detail about health care industry in the State and in particular the role played by private hospitals in tackling health care issues in Manipur.
He shared his optimism about making Manipur an international healthcare tourism hub in the near future as the State is located geographically at the very gate of the Government of India's Act East Policy.
Dr Oinam Radheshyam (president, Manipur Chamber of Commerce), who also attended the programme as guest of honour, talked about the volume of trade, its turnover and economic benefits which the people in the region specially Manipur can harvest when all the trade infrastructure are fully activated.
Many other delegates also shared their experience and narratives.
RK Herojit, an active KEN member from Singapore shared his journey of entrepreneurship and his learning from the journey.
He said "professionalism is the only solution to all the problems of any business" .
Business community must seek for professional helps when they start their journey, he suggested.
Dr Narengbam Samarjit Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd, also took part in the convention.
He showcased the achievements made by the Salai Holdings and explained the efforts the group has been making to make a better Manipur.
Notably, the group is said to have established its supply chain at international level in renewable energy sector, it said.
Yumlembam Bijaya, AIR, Programme Executive delivered on the need for women empowerment in Manipur and urged the NRI Manipuri women to take part in the movement.
She also elaborated the vital roles played by Manipuri women in protecting the territorial and emotional integrity of the State.
Yumnam Geetashori and Asem Sundari of Green Biotech Ecosolutions Pvt Ltd shared many projects the company has taken up so far and drew interests from some of the participants.
Konthoujam Deepak of UNACCO Financial Services Pvt ltd, Elangbam Sovid of Hadron Tech Pvt Ltd, Haorokcham Anil of SYNAPX and Kh Roshan of Hyundai Motors India also shared their experience, expectation and appreciation for the initiative taken up by KEN.
Kh Roshan proposed KEN to play a vital role to put pressure on to the GoI to create a different time zone for the East or at least for the North East of India to boost productivity of the region.
Later, president of the convention, Dr Erengbam Mohendra distributed Big-Ben replica as mementos to all the delegates from Manipur.
