Imphal, September 23 2014:
The Oinam Tangleihada Oksoi Grazing Ground Protection Committee has unanimously resolved to prohibit 10 persons from assessing the grazing ground.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the Committee's secretary in-charge N Sushildro said that Oinam Oksoi grazing field is as big as 124 hectares but some individuals have been using the community grazing ground as their private properties.
Taking strong exception to this incursion, a public meeting was held at Oinam Lamdaibung public hall recently.
As per the resolutions adopted at the meeting, the villagers would henceforth avoid association with the ten individuals in any manner.
According to Sushildro, some of the encroachers have allegedly obtained land ownership deeds through illicit means.
The prohibition has been enforced since September 22 on the ten encroachers and Oinam populace have been directed not to sell anything to them or buy anything from them.
Moreover, the vehicle owners have also been instructed not to rent any vehicle to them.
Any kind of support given to them has been prohibited, it added.
The Committee further asserted that the Government must be held responsible if any untoward incident happens.
The Committee also urged the Government to take up punitive measures against the encroachers.
The 10 persons do possess land documents but they are forged.
Anyone found helping them would also be penalised, it added.
