Rs.50 cr Defamation suit to be filed against 'The Statesman' & 'Hueiyen Lanpao: Chaoba

Imphal, September 23 2014:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally announced Maibam Dhanabir, son of the deceased MLA of Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency Maibam Kunjo, as its candidate for the upcoming by-election of Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency.
Addressing media persons at the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh at Nityaipat Chuthek here today, President of BJP Manipur Unit Thounaojam Chaoba said that three persons have applied for the party's ticket for the upcoming Hiyanglam by-election.
Out of those three aspirants, the national leaders of BJP have chosen Dhanabir as the party's candidate.

The party is confident of winning the by-election and would make Hiyanglam as a model constituency of the BJP-led NDA Government, Chaoba asserted.
State BJP President also refuted the news report published in a leading national daily regarding his connection with the ousted Director of RIMS.
He also threatened to file a defamation suit of Rs.50 crore against the newspaper for maligning his image.
Flatly denying any interaction with either Dr.Sekhorjit or his wife Dr.Damayanti, BJP President Th.Chaoba alleged the reports appeared in the national newspaper 'The Statesman' and subsequent publication of the report in the Hueiyen Lanpao Daily as baseless.
Demanding clarification and apology from the two newspaper establishments within 24 hours, Th.Chaoba warned that legal suit of defamation amounting to Rs.50 Crore will be filed against the two newspapers for failing to clarify the matter.
Meanwhile, Khousabung ADC member Thangkhmang Haokip and former members of NCP namely U Ruhinikumar, L Irabanta, Md Rahimuddin and Roshan Meisnam have joined BJP today.
