Vice president of the All Manipur Canoeing and Kayaking Association (AMCKA) T Dushanta and another man Thokchom Naresh have submitted formal complaints to the officer-in-charge of Imphal police station that the body guard of Jyotin Waikhom, former Congress candidate at Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency had assaulted them and threatened them at Imphal police station yesterday.
Urging the OC to register a regular FIR against the attacker, Senjam Somorjit Singh, T Dushanta and present president of (AMCKA) Yambem Laba said that Dushanta and Naresh had gone to the police station in connection with a forgery case.
The forgery case was in connection with forging the signatures of M Kumar Singh and Th Indira Devi, both members of the All Manipur Canoeing and Kayaking Association.
Giving his side of the story, Dushanta said that Senjam Somorjit accosted him inside the precinct of the police station today at about 12.50 pm and tried to strangulate him, breaking his gold chain.
It was only after the 2nd OC came out and intervened that the attack stopped, said Dushanta.
President of the association, Yambem Laba who was also present said that a written complaint to the Imphal police station to probe the matter has been submitted.
Laba added that an FIR would also be lodged and the matter would be taken to the law Court.
The body guard was also armed, he alleged and added that such an incident, which happened inside a police station is highly condemnable.
