Imphal, October 21 2012:
Demanding five per cent mark relaxation from the pass mark of the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) for disabled persons, the All Tribal Disabled Union Manipur (ATDUM) has threatened to impose bandh in all hill districts from 5 am of October 29 till 5 pm in case the same demand is not fulfilled within a week.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, ATDUM president Momo Tatanga decried that no concession is given for disabled persons in the upcoming TET.
The qualification marks for this year's TET are 45 per cent and 50 per cent respectively for ST and SC candidates but there is no concession for disabled persons, Momo said.
He demanded that there should be 5 per cent relaxation in both the eligibility criteria and pass mark for disabled persons.
TET centres should be opened in all district headquarters and each exam centre should have a separate room for disabled candidates.
Even if TET should be only at Imphal, there should be separate rooms for disabled persons, he demanded.
If TET centre is opened at Imphal only, transport allowance should be given to disabled candidates coming from different parts of the State.
It takes three days for a candidate belonging to Tamenglong district to appear TET at Imphal and they often face difficulties in terms of accommodation besides spending substantial amount of money.
Highlighting all these points, a memorandum was submitted to the Education Minister October 20, Momo conveyed.
