Imphal, November 17 2013:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has donated 24 bundles of CI sheets for the construction of Khongnangpokpi village (Senapati district) community hall.
Conceding that for the last few years UCM had been hoping to extend assistance for the community hall construction but due to paucity of fund the objective could not be translated into action earlier, UCM president Y Nabachandra asserted that the Committee has unflinching commitment for egalitarian development of all the indigenous communities.
Expressing that economic independence do not necessary mean socio-economic development as Manipuri society needs cooperation and cordial relationships amongst various ethnic communities, he said today's humble gesture of donating CI sheets is part of the UCM's agenda to reach out to every nook and corner of the State.
Nabachandra also informed that the CI sheets were purchased with donations from donors.
Speaking to newspersons, UCM secretary general Joychandra Konthoujam highlighted that for past many years the Committee has been extending all possible assistance for the socio-economic development of all the ethnic communities settled in the State.
Among others the CI sheet hand-over programme was attended by Khongnangpokpi village chief S Boilen and local Church pastor.
