Adult Learners Week concludes

Prizes were distributed to winners of the literacy competitions that were held during Swachh Bharat and Literacy for Women Empowerment programme conducted by Model Centre Kangpokpi Block under SRC NEHU, Shillong, at the valedictory function of the Adult Learners Week today.
The valedictory function was jointly organized by SRC NEHU, Shillong; SLMA Imphal and DLS Senapati in collaboration with Model Centre, Kangpokpi Block under Saakshar Bharat Mission, at District Council Hall, Kangpokpi, our correspondent reports.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills graced the occasion as chief guest, while B Laltanpuia, Director, SRC NEHU, Shillong and Lalgougin Misao, were the resource persons.

Speaking at the occasion, ADC Sadar Hills Chairman Haokholal Hangshing said the Government is providing abundant developmental schemes for the people in various fields.
He said the people would not be able to understand the value and benefits of these schemes and projects, unless they involve themselves in the process of implementing them.
He said the Government policies and schemes in the hills areas of the State is meant to uplift the tribal people of the hills areas from their social and economic backwardness. Winners of various competitions like essay writing, slogan writing, etc that were held during Swachh Bharat and Literacy for Women Empowerment programme were awarded with a certificate and cash reward by the ADC Sadar Hills Chairman in the presence of Director, SRC NEHU, Shillong.
