In connection with the hit and run case in which a poor quarry labourer was killed along National Highway-2 on Chavang Kut night, Thadou Students' Association Sadar Hills decided to impose bandh along National Highway-2 from midnight of November 6 .
Earlier, the student body had served three days ultimatum on November 2 upon the State Government to trace and nab the culprits and warned to resort to various form of agitation including bandh and blockade along the National Highway-2 if it fails to take action.
Considering the negative outcome on the part of the concerned authority and State Government even after the expiry of the ultimatum, the student body in its emergency meeting held today at Motbung decided to impose bandh till justice is delivered to the victim's family.
Speaking to media persons, Thangpimang, Social and Culture Secretary of TSA Sadar Hills said that ultimatum served on November 2 in connection with the Hit and Run case along NH-2 on Chavang Kut night which claimed the precious life of a poor quarry labourer Lamminthang Kipgen of Siloi village has expired and the deceased family is yet to avail justice.
He said that considering the negligence and failure to address justice upon the unfortunate family despite of the ultimatum, TSA Sadar Hills is compelled to impose bandh from midnight of November 6 till justice is delivered to the deceased family.
34 years-old Lamminthang Kipgen, a poor quarry labourer of Siloi village is survived by his wife and three son and was killed in the Hit and Run incident near Sapormeina on Chavang Kut night when he hurried out from home to join the night session of Chavang Kut celebration at Kangpokpi DHQs.
The lifeless body of Lamminthang Kipgen is still lying at RIMS Morgue as the family decided not to claim the body until justice is delivered over the unfortunate incident.
TSA Sadar Hills had earlier urged the state Government to compensate accordingly the huge lost of the bereaved family considering their pathetic financial condition while serving three days ultimatum to the concerned authority to trace and nab the culprits.
The student body appealed the general public and vehicles owner of passengers and private vehicles including inter-state and state passengers vehicles, loaded trucks, tankers, etc.
to bear with the bereaved family and sought cooperation towards its movement for justice.
It said that emergency services like medical, media fraternity, airport, power and water supply will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
However, the student body cautioned that the concerned authority and State Government will be held sole responsible if any untoward incidents occurred during the bandh not the TSA.
