Kuki community in USA celebrates Kut

The Kuki community in USA celebrated Chavang Kut at Dallas in Mount Lebanon Baptist Retreat Centre, Texas, USA from November 3 to 4 under the theme of "Unity through culture" with much exuberance and pompous zeal.
The post harvest festival, which symbolized peace, communal harmony, friendship and forging new ties, was organized under the banner of Kuki Inpi USA in collaboration with the Kuki Inpi Oklahoma.
The programme was attended by Henkholun Doungel as chief guest, Dr Harry Angam Haokip as guest of honour while Dr Konkhogin Haokip was the Kutpa (master of the ceremony).
Dr Thien Haokip rendered invocatory prayer followed by lemna thusei (welcome speech; ay Jammang, Kuki Inpi president USA.
All together 58 people attended the event.
Seminars, annual assembly and sight seeing were organised on the first day of the event.
In the evening the celebration was enlivened by variety of songs followed by traditional lenkhom (dancing around in circle).
Annual report given by Doulet and a special benedictory prayer by Dr Veikhoneng marked the end of the celebration.
There are about 200 Kukis, including children in USA.
