Environment expedition to Tamei from Kanglatongbi

Imphal, November 05 2018:
A 5-day cycle expedition to promote tourism and eco-friendly environment organized by Highland Riders Club was flagged off by Maj General VK Mishra, GOC Headquarters 57 Infantry Division at Kanglatombi Bazar this morning.
The expedition is being carried out under the theme "Bethe Change".
The cyclists will pass through Zaimeng, Makui/Liangchi and to Zaikhun.
Later they will also visit Puiluong and will culminate at Tamei on November 9 where a seminar will be held.
As per the organisers, they will organize seminar to promote tourism and eco friendly environment wherever they go.
Speaking to media persons in the sideline of the programme, Maj General VK Mishra lauded the cyclists for taking the initiative to spread awareness on the need to protect environment.
"It is globally required.
We need to take initiatives to encourage them.
We should take care of our environment," the Army officer said.
One of the key persons behind the event, Lieutenant Colonel Sangsungbou said that Highland Riders Club organized the cycle expedition to promote tourism and eco-friendly environment in Tamenglong, Senapati and Kangpokpi areas.
A team of 25 cyclists are participating in the expedition, he added.
Former Lok Sabha MP, Mani Charenamei was also among the team.
Civil organization leaders, students and church leaders attended in the flag-off ceremony.
