Imphal to host Mime Fest

A local performing group is set to host the first ever National Mime Festival in Imphal from November 10 .
At least six prominent mime groups of the country including host Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory (KMTR), will perform their choicest plays in the three-day festival scheduled to begin on Nov ember 10 at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) hall in the heart of Imphal.
"All arrangements for the festival have been completed and the mime troupes from other States would be reaching here within the next few days ahead of the grand event," said KMTR director Yumnam Sadanada Assamese mime group 'Nisabda' with its play ' Man Vs Machine' , West Bengal's ' Jalpaiguri Sristi Mime Theatre' with its 'Tota Kahani' and KMTR's 'Body Speaks on Tagore's Melodies will open the festival, said Sadananda, who has directed over fifteen mime plays.
The second day will witness 'The King and the Beggar' from Rajasthan's group Do Kadam, 'Koch-Devyani' from New Delhi based Pratibha Sanskritik Sanstha and 'Kokka Babur Pratya Barthan' from the artistes of Kerala's The Mimer's Trivandrum.
KMTR's 'My Obedient Doll' and 'Love Your Nature' will be staged on the last day of the festival.
