UNC Goodwill Mission in strife-torn Tamenglong

With an aim to bring back normalcy in the violence ravaged Tamenglong district, a Goodwill Mission Team of United Naga Council (UNC) today interacted with the people of Tamenglong here this afternoon at Indoor Stadium Tamenglong HQs.
In his welcome address, Rev.Kaiba Riamei, member FNR (South) said that after forming Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) in Khoupum in 2010, problems have been created not only in Khoupum areas, but also in Noney, Houchong and Tamenglong district HQs.
Among all these places, the situation has become worst in Tamenglong district HQs.
Ashinpou Gangmei, Vice President of Committee on Alternative Arrangement, questioned while the Nagas are about to reap a solution, why should there be bloodshed among the Zeliangrong brothers? Recalling the sacrifices made by Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu for Naga people, Ashinpou pointed out that Naga freedom movement was first started by these brave sons and daughters of Zeliangrong and it is continuing till today.
So, Zeliangrong people should give more and stronger support to the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk.
.LAdani, President of UNC; Gaidon Kamei, Secretary of UNC; Paul Leo, President and Convener of Committee on Alternative Arrangement; TS Wangam, Vice President of UNC; Aram Pamei, President of Naga Women Union, Manipur and Seth Satshang, General Secretary of All Naga Students' Association Manipur were also among others who spoke on the occasion and appeal to all the Naga factions to shun factional killing among the Zeliangrong brothers.
They also appealed against spread rumors and false propagandas.
During the interaction, a two minutes silent prayer was observed for the Khoupum rape victims as well as for those killed in the 30 October encounter at Tamenglong.
After a serious deliberation over the issue, the congregation resolved to deal with the present prevailing situation seriously and appealed to all UG groups operating in Zeliangrong areas to shun factional killings.
The congregations also appealed to the security personnel not to side with any UG group but to concentrate their mind in aiding the district administration towards ensuring security of the people.
Furthermore, it was resolved that UG cadres should vacate from public places.
