Governor and Chief Minister have greeted the people on the occasion of Kut festival which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In his greeting, Governor SS Sidhu said Kut, an autumnal festival of Chin-Kuki-Mizo (CHIKIM) symbolises compassion, gaiety and gratefulness and provides a unique opportunity not only to the Chin-Kuki-Mizo group of people but also to every human being irrespective of caste, creed and religion to make a sincere analysis of his own sense of value.
He also urged the people to use "Kut 2004" as an opportunity to spread the message of peace, friendship, brotherhood, compassion and forgiveness among all the people of Manipur.
Chief Minister O Ibobi while conveying his best wishes to the people said people should let the Kut Festival to usher in an era of peace, fraternity and prosperity for all.
Other than the State level Kut festival to be held at Kangpokpi tomorrow, the same festival will also be held at Kangchup where its trade mark show, Miss Kut and rock concert will be held, informed the secretary of the organizing committee Mang Kipgen today.
The festival will be held in two sessions, morning and evening session.
MOBC Minister Allauddin Khan will grace the morning session as chief guest while former MLA C Jayenta and MLA L Radhakishore will be guests of honour.
In the evening session MLA Bijoy Koijam will be the chief guest while former Minister M Oken and MLA N Biren will be the guests of honour.
Tribal Voice will be the Kut band, said Kipgen adding that the screening for Miss Kut started yesterday.
The final screening will be held tomorrow at 12 noon and all participants have been asked to attend on time.
International Kut Festival 2004 Selection Committee will be organizing an International Kut Festival at Moreh tomorrow.
Commandant of 37th Assam rifles will grace the function as the chief guest.
Mizoram Home Minister Taumuliya along with a cultural troupe arrived here today.
He will be the chief guest in the night session of Kut function at Kangpokpi tomorrow.
Speaker TN Haokip will preside the function.
